The Estadio Municipal de Butarque is located just south of the city center of Madrid in the Leganés area. It is a very nice little all-seater stadium with stands on all sides. The size is perfect for a club like CD Leganes The closest major football stadiums are Estadio Santo Domingo of AD Alcorcon (about 10 km.) to the west and Getafes Coliseum Alfonso Perez (7 km.) to the east.
I arrived quite early at the stadium and it was easy to find parking for my car. If you travel from Madrid, the metro may also be a very good alternative. The atmosphere around the stadium was very friendly and relaxed.
The match I went to was a very important one. Both CD Leganes and RCD Espanyol were struggling deep down at the table and in desperate need of points. From the early stages of the match it was clear that the hosts wanted it the most. The strikers Braithwaite and En-Nesyri were a constant treath with their pace and strenght. The visitors from Barcelona really had no answers to the dynamic duo and they went on to score a goal each. One goal early in each half meant a lot of confidence for Leganes and really took away all energy and belief of Espanyol. In the end a deserved victory for CD Leganes in front of an enthusiastic crowd at the Estadio Municipal de Butarque.
