Match report:
Certainly fantastic atmposphere in and around this local derby. Only a drive of about one hour, seperates these two cities. 16. May is the main football date in Norway each year (it’s the day before the National Day 17. May) and it is a big tradition to go and watch football. In this part of Norway, they are really football mad. Kristiansund could certainly have sold a lot more tickets for this match if Kristiansund Stadion had a larger capacity.
The match really lived up to the high expectations. The tempo was high and both teams showed that they were up for it. The visitors from Molde took an early 2-0 lead, but the hosts came back strong and levelled the match before half-time. After the break KBK completed the turnaround when they capitalized on an error from the Molde goalkeeper. The rest of the match Molde pushed for a third. They came really close on several occasions, but KBK held on and secured a very prestigious victory.
Even for Norwegian top division the stadium is small but, but the atmosphere where fantastic. Kristiansund Stadion is actually build based on inspiration from lower-league stadiums in England, and especially Chester FC! I can certainly recommend a trip to Kristiansund!
Full credit to Kristiansund BK and the organization for helping me out. Great People!
